South Waverly is a small town, called a borough, in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, United States. It's located in a region known as Northeastern Pennsylvania. In 2020, about 1,070 people lived there.

South Waverly is part of a special area called the Penn-York Valley. This "Valley" includes four towns that are very close to each other. These towns are Waverly, New York, South Waverly, Sayre, and Athens. Together, these communities have a population of nearly 30,000 people.

Where is South Waverly Located?

South Waverly is in Bradford County, right next to the border with New York. It sits along the Chemung River. This river joins the larger Susquehanna River a few miles south.

To the north of South Waverly, you'll find the village of Waverly in Tioga County, New York. To the east and south, it borders the borough of Sayre.

Getting Around South Waverly

A major highway, Interstate 86, runs through the northern part of South Waverly. Even though it's in Pennsylvania, New York State takes care of this part of the highway. If you go west on I-86, it's about 16 miles to Elmira, New York. If you head east, it becomes New York State Route 17 and leads 40 miles to Binghamton.

The main highway, U.S. Route 220, starts in South Waverly at I-86. Going south on US-220, it's about 18 miles to Towanda. It's also about 85 miles to Williamsport. South Waverly is about 75 miles northwest of Waverly if you take U.S. Route 220 and U.S. Route 6.
