Versailles (pronounced "vur-SAYLZ") is a small town, called a borough, located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,476 people lived there.

History of Versailles
The borough of Versailles officially became a town on June 16, 1894. Before that, it was made up of two smaller villages named Bissell and Elrod. There was an attempt to make it a town earlier in 1892, but it didn't work out because of a problem with the paperwork.
Geography and Location
Versailles is located at coordinates 40.316869 degrees North and -79.833414 degrees West. The town covers a total area of about 0.541 square miles. A small part of this area, about 0.057 square miles, is water, which comes from the Youghiogheny River.
Neighboring Areas
Versailles shares its land border with the city of McKeesport to the north and west. To the east, it borders White Oak Borough. Across the Youghiogheny River, Versailles is next to Elizabeth Township to the south. You can get there directly using the Boston Bridge. It also borders Lincoln to the southwest.

There were also some African American residents (2.55%), Asian residents (0.35%), and people of other backgrounds.

Public Services
Versailles has its own small police department. In 2009, the town council decided to stop having their own police force for a short time. Instead, they made an agreement with the nearby town of White Oak to have White Oak police serve Versailles. However, Versailles started its own police department again in 2010.
