Petersburg is a small town, also called a borough, located in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It used to be an important stop on the old Pennsylvania Railroad Main Line, which was a major train route. It was also where another train line, the Petersburg Branch, connected. In 2020, about 419 people lived there.
Where is Petersburg Located?
Petersburg is found in the northern part of Huntingdon County. It sits on the east side of Shaver Creek, right where it flows into the Juniata River. This area is also close to where the Juniata River begins, formed by the joining of the Little Juniata River and the Frankstown Branch.
A road called Pennsylvania Route 305 goes through Petersburg. If you go northeast on this road for about 19 miles, you'll reach Greenwood Furnace State Park. If you head west for about 3 miles, you'll get to Alexandria. Huntingdon, which is the main town for the county, is about 9 miles south of Petersburg by local roads.
The United States Census Bureau says that Petersburg covers a total area of about 0.86 square kilometers (or 0.33 square miles), and all of it is land.
