History of Dallastown
How Dallastown Got Its Name
Dallastown was first settled way back in 1736. The town got its current name in 1844. It was named after George M. Dallas from Philadelphia. He was an important person who served as the Vice President of the United States. This happened during the time when James K. Polk was president.
When Dallastown Became a Borough
Dallastown officially became a borough in April 1866. This means it became a self-governing town with its own local government.
A Presidential Visit
In 1966, a special event happened in Dallastown. The President of the United States at that time, Lyndon Johnson, visited the town. He came to help celebrate Dallastown's 100th birthday as a borough!
