Portersville is a small town, also called a borough, located in Butler County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In 2020, about 231 people lived there. It's a quiet place with a rich history, settled in 1826 and officially becoming a borough in 1844.

Geography of Portersville
Portersville is in the western part of Butler County. It's close to the border of Lawrence County.
A main road, U.S. Route 19 (also known as Perry Highway), goes right through the middle of Portersville. This road leads north about 22 miles (35 km) to Mercer and south about 9.5 miles (15.3 km) to Zelienople.
Another big road, Interstate 79, passes just east of the borough. You can get to it from Exit 96 (PA 488). I-79 goes south about 38 miles (61 km) to Pittsburgh and north about 90 miles (140 km) to Erie.
Right near Portersville, you'll find Moraine State Park. This park is famous for Lake Arthur, a large lake where people enjoy boating and other water activities. Portersville is also located between the cities of Butler (about 15 miles or 24 km east) and New Castle (about 14 miles or 23 km west).
The borough covers a total area of about 0.80 square miles (2.1 square kilometers), and all of it is land.
