Leechburg is a small town, called a borough, in southern Armstrong County. It is located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Leechburg is about 35 miles (56 km) northeast of Pittsburgh. In 2020, about 2,149 people lived here.
Leechburg was started by David Leech, and the town is named after him. It became an official borough in 1850. The town is located along the Kiskiminetas River. This river was once an important part of the Pennsylvania Canal.
In the early 1900s, Leechburg was a busy industrial area. It had large steel factories, foundries, and cement plants. There were also many coal mines nearby. Leechburg is famous for being the first place where natural gas was used for industrial purposes.

History of Leechburg
Leechburg was officially founded in 1850 by David Leech. Before 1850, the area was known as White Plains. David Leech bought the land for the town from a local Native American named White Maddock.
