The Hajibeyov Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra (in Azeri: Hacıbəyov adına Azərbaycan Dövlət Simfonik Orkestri) is a famous music group from Azerbaijan. It was started in 1920 by the well-known composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov. This orchestra was one of the very first of its kind in the Soviet Union. Today, it is an important part of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society.
When the orchestra was first formed, famous conductors like Rhené-Baton and Otto Klemperer came from other countries to help train the musicians. From 1938 to 1984, Niyazi, who was Uzeyir Hajibeyov's nephew, was the main conductor of the orchestra. After Niyazi passed away, "People's Artist" of Azerbaijan, Professor Rauf Abdullayev, took over as conductor. The orchestra has traveled and performed in many countries. These include the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, and Egypt.
