Big Bang (Hangul: 빅뱅; styled as BIGBANG) is a super popular South Korean boy band. They were formed by a company called YG Entertainment. The group has five members: G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri.
Many people say Big Bang is one of the most important groups in K-pop music. They helped spread the "Korean Wave" (Korean culture becoming popular worldwide) and are often called the "Kings of K-pop". People love their music because they try many different styles. The members also help create their own songs and put on amazing live shows. They have inspired many K-pop and international artists.

Early Success and Japanese Debut
Big Bang started in 2006. Their first album, Bigbang Vol.1, didn't make them famous right away. But soon after, they released many hit songs. These included "Lies", "Last Farewell", "Day by Day", and "Sunset Glow".
"Lies" was a huge hit! It stayed at the top of Korean music charts for six weeks in a row. It also won "Song of the Year" in 2007 and 2008. Big Bang won "Artist of the Year" in 2008. After this, they started making music in Japan too. They released four studio albums there, which all became very popular.
Global Recognition and World Tours
After a break in South Korea, Big Bang came back with new and exciting music. Their fourth mini-album, Tonight (2011), was a big success. It helped them win the first-ever "Best Worldwide Act" award at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards.
Their fifth mini-album, Alive (2012), made history. It was the first Korean album to appear on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. In 2016, they released their popular album Made. This album had many songs that reached number one. Big Bang won their third "Artist of the Year" award in 2015 for this album.
The tour for the Made album was called the Made World Tour. It was a massive success! About 1.5 million people attended their concerts. This made it the biggest concert tour ever by a Korean music group.
Big Bang's Achievements
Big Bang has achieved many amazing things in music. They have 18 songs that reached number one in South Korea. These songs stayed at the top of the Melon music service for a total of 51 weeks. This is more than any other music act!
The group has sold over 140 million records. This makes them one of the best-selling boy bands in the world. They have sold more records than famous American groups like the Backstreet Boys. Forbes Korea magazine listed them as one of the most powerful celebrities in South Korea many times.
Big Bang was also the first Korean group to be on Forbes' Celebrity 100 list. They were also on the 30 Under 30 list of most important musicians in the world. These achievements show how much impact Big Bang has had on music globally.
