Bad Marriage Mountain is a mountain located in Glacier National Park in Montana, U.S.. It stands tall at about 8,350 feet (2,545 m). This mountain is part of the Lewis Range, a group of mountains found in the park.
The mountain got its unique name from a Blackfoot Indian leader. His name was Bad Married. Over time, people started calling the mountain "Bad Marriage Mountain," and this name became very popular.
Before "Bad Marriage Mountain" became official, an early explorer of the park, J.W. Schultz, sometimes called the summit "Elk Tongue." However, since there was no Blackfoot name that meant "Elk Tongue," the English name was eventually dropped. This is how "Bad Marriage Mountain" officially became the accepted name for this interesting peak.
