Bad Rodach is a town in Germany. It is located in the district of Coburg, in a region called Upper Franconia. This area is in northern Bavaria. Bad Rodach is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) southeast of Hildburghausen. It is also about 17 kilometers (11 miles) northwest of Coburg.
Since 1999, Bad Rodach has been a spa resort. This means it is a place where people go to relax and get healthy. It is famous for having the warmest natural hot spring in northern Bavaria.

Early History
During the time of the Holy Roman Empire (from 962 to 1806), Rodach was part of a place called the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. A duchy was a territory ruled by a duke or duchess. This particular duchy existed from 1699 to 1825.
German Empire Era
Later, when the German Empire was formed (from 1871 to 1918), Rodach became part of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. This shows how the borders and rulers of the area changed over time.

Francis Josias
Francis Josias, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1697-1764) was a ruler of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. He passed away in Rodach.
Friedrich Rückert
In 1814, the famous poet Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866) visited Rodach. He spent a few days there and was inspired to write a poem called Idyllic Rodach.
Helmut Markwort
Helmut Markwort (born in 1936) is a well-known journalist and publisher. He was also the editor-in-chief of the news magazine Focus. Helmut Markwort spent part of his childhood in Bad Rodach and went to elementary school there.
