Badger is a small place in Portage County, Wisconsin, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called the town of Lanark.
Where is Badger Located?
Badger is found in the middle part of Wisconsin. It's about eight miles southeast of a place called Amherst. It's also about six miles southwest of Waupaca. Another nearby spot is Blaine, which is about four miles away. Badger is right next to Hartman Creek State Park, a great place for outdoor activities.
A Look at Badger's Past
Badger used to be an important stop for travelers. It was on a trail that connected Waupaca and Plover Portage, which is now the town of Plover. This old trail is now known as State Road 54.
For a while, from about 1870 to 1901, Badger even had its own post office. It was also the main center for the town of Lanark.
Badger Today
While Badger no longer has its own post office, it's still a recognized community. The garage and town hall for Lanark are now located a couple of miles to the east. You can find them near where State Road 54 and County Road TT meet.
