Bahram Nouraei (born April 25, 1988), known simply as Bahram, is a talented hip hop artist and music producer. He was born in Tehran, Iran, and now lives in Stockholm, Sweden. Bahram is one of the most important hip hop artists in Iran's underground music scene. Many people consider him one of the 50 most influential people in the culture of the Middle East.

Bahram's Music Journey

Bahram Nouraei's first big song was a track called "Nameyee Be Rayees Jomhour" (which means "A letter to the president") released in 2007. This song was like an open letter that shared his thoughts about the president of Iran at the time.

His first album, "24 Sa'at" (meaning "24 Hours"), came out in August 2008. It included a powerful song called "Inja Irane" (meaning "Here's Iran"). This song was described by Rolling Stone magazine as a strong comment on modern-day Iran.

His second album, "Sokoot" (meaning "Silence"), was released in 2011. This album featured "Khorshid Khanoom" (meaning "Lady Sunshine"). This song was special because it was one of the first abstract hip hop tracks from Iran. It was written like a conversation with the sun.

The "Good Mistake" Album

Bahram's third album, "Eshtebahe Khoob" (meaning "Good Mistake"), was the first concept album ever made in Iran. A concept album tells a story or explores a specific theme throughout all its songs. This album used a special way of storytelling called reverse chronology, which means the story is told backward.

"Good Mistake" was produced by Bahram Nouraei and Mahdyar Aghajani. It was released on July 4, 2015. The album became very popular, reaching #4 and #6 on Billboard's Top World Albums Chart in July 2015. Along with the music, a collection of artworks was created for each song. These artworks helped people understand the album's themes visually.

"Gozaar" and "Khodha" Albums

Bahram's EP album, "Gozaar" (meaning "Transition"), was released on March 22, 2020, which is the same time as the Iranian New Year. This album was produced by Nesa Azadikhah, Ashkan Mousavi, and Peymandegar.

His latest album, "Khodha" (meaning "Selves"), was released on April 13, 2023, by Peeleh. It was produced by Ashkan Mousavi, Peymandegar, and Nesa Azadikhah. This album was a huge success, taking all 12 top spots on the SoundCloud Hot&New chart.

In "Khodha," Bahram explores ideas about our "conscious" and "unconscious" minds. He uses ideas from Carl Jung's "Theory of Shadows" to do this. Through metaphors like the "mirror" and "self", he talks about problems in society that come from people not understanding themselves enough. He hopes his music can help address these issues.

Speaking Up for Change

Bahram is also known for his activism, which means speaking up for what he believes is right. In 2009, he spent one week in prison because he was accused of illegal cultural activism. Luckily, he was set free.

He also appeared in a documentary film called "Bahram: An Iranian Rapper." This film showed the underground music scene in Iran and helped explain Iranian culture after the Islamic revolution. The film was shown at the San Francisco Iranian Film Festival in September 2011.
