Baileys Harbor is located on Wisconsin Highway 57. You can find it northeast of a town called Jacksonport. In 2010, the community had a population of 257 people.
History of Baileys Harbor
Baileys Harbor was the very first village to be set up on the Door Peninsula. It got its name from a brave sailor, Captain Justice Bailey.
In 1848, Captain Bailey was sailing on Lake Michigan. A very strong storm hit, and he needed a safe place to hide. He found a calm, protected spot, which became known as Baileys Harbor. This harbor offered him safety from the wild storm.
