Balch Camp is a small community in Fresno County, California. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it's a place where people live together but it's not officially a city or town with its own local government.
This community is located deep within the Sierra Nevada foothills. It sits near where two rivers meet: the North Fork of the Kings River and Dinkey Creek. Balch Camp is about 38 miles (61 km) east-northeast of Fresno. It's also about 1,273 feet (388 meters) above sea level.
Getting to Balch Camp from Fresno Yosemite International Airport takes about one hour and 50 minutes by car, covering around 59 miles. The community is very close to the Balch Powerhouse, which is a power plant. Both Balch Camp and the powerhouse are named after a person called A.C. Balch.
