Bald Hill is a well-known hill located in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. It sits just west of the city of Corvallis.
This hill is about 755 feet (230 m) (230 meters) tall. Its top has no trees, making it a great spot for views. Many people enjoy hiking to the top of Bald Hill. From there, you can see Corvallis, Mary's Peak, the Oregon Coast Range, and even the Cascade Range foothills.
Bald Hill is part of a larger area called the Bald Hill Natural Area. This park covers about 284-acre (115 ha) (115 hectares). It has about 10 miles (16 km) (16 km) of trails. These trails go through open areas with oak trees, called oak savanna, and also through thicker forests. The park is managed to protect plants and animals that live there.
Where is Bald Hill Located?
Bald Hill is found at the western edge of the Willamette Valley. This is where the valley meets the Oregon Coast Range.
South of the Cardwell Hills, Bald Hill is separated from the main Coastal Range foothills. Two creeks, Oak Creek and Mulkey Creek, flow nearby.
History of Bald Hill Park
The land that makes up the Bald Hill Natural Area has an interesting history. A group called the Greenbelt Land Trust bought the land in 1990. They later gave it to the City of Corvallis in 1993.
In 2013, the land trust bought a nearby property called Bald Hill Farm. This allowed for new trails to be built. These new trails connect Bald Hill to other parks in the area. This makes it even easier for people to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the region.
