Balltown is a small city in Dubuque County, Iowa, United States. It is located near the larger city of Dubuque, Iowa. In 2020, the population of Balltown was 79 people. This was a small increase from 73 people in 2000.
Balltown is famous for Breitbach's Country Dining. This restaurant and bar is the oldest in Iowa, first opening in 1852. It has been rebuilt twice by the community. Fires destroyed the restaurant in 2007 and again in 2008.
