A Look Back in Time
How Land Was Settled
Long ago, in 1877, land in Barambah became available for people to choose and settle on. This was called "open for selection." It meant that people could apply to use or buy parts of the land. A lot of land was available back then. For example, about 11,000 acres were open in the Baramba area itself.
Later, in July 1906, the government advertised more land for selection. There were 32 different plots of land available. These plots were in areas called Murgon, Goomeribong, and Barambah. A map from that time showed exactly where these plots were located.
