Barbara Bain (born Mildred Fogel on September 13, 1931) is a talented American actress. She is most famous for playing Cinnamon Carter Crawford in the action TV show Mission: Impossible from 1966 to 1969. For this role, she won three Primetime Emmy Awards and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. She also starred as Dr. Helena Russell in the science-fiction series Space: 1999 from 1975 to 1977. Barbara Bain has also appeared in several movies, including Panic (2000) and On the Rocks (2020).

Early Life and Training
Barbara Bain was born Mildred Fogel in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were immigrants from Russia. She went to the University of Illinois and earned a degree in sociology.
Discovering Her Path
After college, Barbara became interested in dance. She moved to New York City to study dance with famous dancer Martha Graham. Later, she tried fashion modeling and worked for magazines like Vogue and Harper's.
Still looking for her true passion, Barbara decided to study acting. She trained at the Theater Studio and later at the famous Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg.
First Acting Role
Barbara's first acting job was in a play called Middle of the Night. The play went on a national tour in October 1957. She was joined by her new husband, actor Martin Landau. The tour ended in Los Angeles, where they decided to live. In Los Angeles, Barbara continued to teach and practice acting at the Actors Studio West.

Barbara Bain started her TV career with appearances on shows like Tightrope and The Law and Mr. Jones. She also had a recurring role in Richard Diamond, Private Detective in 1959. In 1960, she guest-starred in an episode of Perry Mason.
Famous TV Roles
From 1966 to 1969, Barbara Bain starred as Cinnamon Carter in the popular show Mission: Impossible. She acted alongside her husband, Martin Landau. Her performance was so good that she won three Emmy Awards in a row for Best Dramatic Actress in 1967, 1968, and 1969. She also received a Golden Globe Award nomination in 1968. Years later, she played Cinnamon Carter again in an episode of Diagnosis: Murder in 1997.
Barbara Bain and Martin Landau worked together again in the science-fiction TV series Space: 1999. In this show, which aired from 1975 to 1977, she played Dr. Helena Russell. They also appeared together in the TV movie The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island in 1981.
Other Appearances
Barbara Bain has made guest appearances on many other TV shows. These include Moonlighting in 1985 and My So-Called Life, where she played Angela Chase's grandmother. She also appeared in the science-fiction series Millennium.
In 1998, she was in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger. In 2006, she had a small role in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 2008, she lent her voice to the character Verdona Tennyson in an episode of Ben 10: Alien Force, acting alongside her daughter Juliet Landau.

On April 28, 2016, Barbara Bain received a special honor. She was given the 2,579th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her friends, actors Edward Asner and Dick Van Dyke, were there to celebrate with her.
Personal Life
Barbara Bain married actor Martin Landau in 1957. They had two daughters, Susan Landau Finch, who is a film producer, and Juliet Landau, who is also an actress. Barbara and Martin divorced in 1993.
Barbara Bain has claustrophobia, which is a fear of small, enclosed spaces. The writers of Mission: Impossible even included this in her character on the show in an episode called "The Exchange."
