Barinia is a small place in South Australia. It's located in the Mid North area. You can find it about 10 kilometers (6 miles) north of a town called Clare. It's also about 149 kilometers (93 miles) north of Adelaide, the capital city.
Years ago, Barinia was a railway siding. This means it was a short track next to a main railway line. Trains could stop there or pass each other. This siding was part of the Spalding railway line. But this railway line closed down in 1984.
Today, the old railway path has a new purpose! Since November 2009, Barinia has been the northern end of the Riesling Trail. This trail is a popular path for walking and cycling. It uses the route where the old railway line used to be.
How Barinia is Governed
