Barneveld is a small community called a hamlet in New York. It is located in Oneida County, New York, within the Town of Trenton. In 2020, about 272 people lived there. The name "Barneveld" comes from a famous Dutch leader named Johan van Oldenbarnevelt. You can find this hamlet in the eastern part of the town, right on NY 365.

History of Barneveld
Barneveld was started in 1793 by a man named Gerrit Boon. He was working for a company called the Holland Land Company. This company helped people settle new lands.
A historic building called Mappa Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. This means it's an important place to protect because of its history.
For a long time, even though the post office and train station were called "Barneveld" starting in 1903, the village's official name was still "Trenton." It wasn't until 1975 that the village officially changed its name to Barneveld.

Village Dissolution
On June 6, 2017, the people of Barneveld voted to dissolve their village. This means it stopped being its own separate village and became part of the larger Town of Trenton. The vote was 54 people for dissolving and 12 against it.
The village officially dissolved on December 31, 2017. At that time, Barneveld had been a village for 224 years.
