Barrin Simpson (born October 1, 1977) is an American former professional football player. He was a talented linebacker who played for 11 seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Simpson was known for his strong tackling skills and leadership on the field.

Barrin Simpson's Early Life and College Football
Barrin grew up in Mississippi and went to Starkville High School. There, he played middle linebacker. His high school team, the Yellow Jackets, had an amazing record. They went 30–0 and won two State Championships in 1994 and 1995.
After high school, Barrin went to Mississippi State University. He played college football there from 1996 to 1999. He was named an All-SEC player twice, in 1998 and 1999. In his senior year (1999), he made 105 tackles. He was also recognized as a First Team All-American by Sporting News. He was even a semi-finalist for the Dick Butkus Award, which honors the best linebacker in college football. One of his best games was against rival Ole Miss, where he made 23 tackles.
Playing Professional Football
Barrin Simpson played professional football for 11 seasons. Most of his career was spent in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was known for being one of the best tacklers in the league.
CFL Highlights and Teams
Barrin started his CFL career with the BC Lions in 2001. He had an amazing first year, leading the entire CFL with 115 defensive tackles. Because of his great performance, he was named the CFL Rookie of the Year. He was also chosen as a CFL All-Star and a West Division All-Star. He continued to lead the CFL in tackles for his first three seasons with the Lions (2001, 2002, 2003). He played for the BC Lions until 2005, consistently leading the team in tackles.
In 2006, Barrin joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He quickly became a key player for them. In his first year with the Blue Bombers, he led the CFL in defensive tackles again with 110. This was the fourth time he had led the league in tackles. He was named a CFL All-Star and an East Division All-Star. He continued to be a top tackler for the Blue Bombers, making over 100 tackles in 2007 as well. He was again named a CFL All-Star that year. In 2008, he had an injury that caused him to miss most of the season. He returned in 2009, playing 13 games and making 84 tackles.
Barrin finished his playing career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He played for them in 2010 and 2011. In 2010, he started all 18 regular season games and led the league with 105 defensive tackles. He was also named a West Division All-Star that year. He retired from playing professional football in 2011.
After Playing: Coaching
After his professional playing career, Barrin Simpson became a coach. He has served as a coach at Brewer High School in Fort Worth, Texas.
