Interesting Places to Visit

Fort Eben-Emael

Fort Eben-Emael

This was a very important fortress. It was built to protect Belgium from attacks. The fort was built in the 1930s. However, it was quickly captured by German forces. This happened in May 1940. It was during the Second World War.

Eben-Ezer Tower

Eben-Ezer Tower, also known as the flint museum

This unique tower is also known as le musée du silex. That means "the museum of flint." It's a really interesting building. Robert Garcet built it in the 1960s. He used flint stones. The tower is decorated with many mystical and religious symbols.

Wonck Airfield

This was a small runway. It was used for ultralight aviation. This means very light airplanes. The Aeroclub Bassange used this airfield. It closed down around 2006.
