The Bear River is a cool river in Colorado, USA. It's like a smaller stream that flows into a bigger river. The Bear River is about 22.7-mile-long (36.5 km), which is about 36.5 kilometers.

Where Does the Bear River Start?

The Bear River begins high up in the mountains. Its starting point is in a special natural area called the Flat Tops Wilderness. This wilderness is located in Garfield County, Colorado. The river starts above a place called Stillwater Reservoir.

Its Journey Through Colorado

From its source, the Bear River flows towards the northeast. It travels through beautiful landscapes. As it continues its journey, the river enters Routt County.

Joining the Yampa River

The Bear River doesn't flow all the way to the ocean by itself. Instead, it joins a larger river. It meets the Yampa River just east of a small town named Yampa. The Yampa River then flows into even bigger rivers, eventually reaching the Colorado River.
