Beausoleil is a town in southeastern France. Its name means "Beautiful Sun" in French. It is located right next to the small country of Monaco. Beausoleil was officially created as a town in 1904. For a short time, people thought about calling it "Upper Monte Carlo." However, the authorities in Monaco didn't like this idea, so the name Beausoleil was chosen instead.
Geography
Beausoleil is built on a hillside. It looks down over the city-state of Monaco. The town is surrounded by two mountains: the Tête de Chien and Mont Agel. Beausoleil and Monaco are so close that they share some streets. These include the Boulevard de France and the Boulevard du Maréchal Leclerc. Beausoleil also shares borders with other French towns. These include La Turbie and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
Economy
Beausoleil and Monaco are very connected. Many people who live in Beausoleil work in Monaco. This means Beausoleil acts like a "bedroom community." It's a place where people live, but they often travel to a nearby city for their jobs. The main part of Beausoleil has many beautiful old houses. These homes are from a time called the "Belle Époque."
There are several interesting places to visit in Beausoleil. You can explore the Gustave Eiffel covered market. This market was designed by the famous engineer Gustave Eiffel. Another place is St Joseph's Sanctuary. It's a church known for its colorful stained-glass windows. You can also see the Fontdivina Fountain and Wash House.
