Beauvechain (pronounced bov-uh-shen in French, or bo-vet-chen in Walloon) is a special kind of town called a municipality in Wallonia, a region in Belgium. It's located in the province of Walloon Brabant.
Back on January 1, 2006, about 6,529 people lived in Beauvechain. The total area of the municipality is about 38.58 square kilometers. This means there were around 169 people living in each square kilometer, which is how we measure how many people live in a certain space.
Beauvechain is made up of several smaller areas or districts. These include Beauvechain itself, Hamme-Mille, L’Écluse, Nodebais, and Tourinnes-la-Grosse.
This area is also home to some cool protected heritage sites, which are important historical places kept safe for the future. Beauvechain also has the Beauvechain Air Base, which used to be where powerful F-16 Fighting Falcon jets were flown!
Fun with Sports
Beauvechain is where the SC Beauvechain football (soccer) club plays! Since the 2011–2012 season, the club has gotten some great new things. They now have brand new fields, including one with a special synthetic (fake grass) surface and another with real grass. They also have a new club house and changing rooms for the players. It's a great place for sports!
