The Story of Bec Cola
Back in 2012, three friends, Olivier Dionne, Gwendal Creuer, and Kevin Creuer, had an idea. They wanted to make a soda without any fake ingredients. They noticed how many chemicals were in other cola drinks.
Making a Natural Cola
It took them two years to figure out how to replace those chemicals with natural stuff. They even worked with the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers to get their maple syrup. This new drink is made with 88% maple syrup!
Bec Soda Inc. started making the drink in August 2014. The friends invested $140,000 of their own money to get started. Just two months later, they started bottling it in Rougemont, Quebec.
Growing Popularity
In its first year, they sold 50,000 bottles. By the first half of 2016, they had sold 500,000 bottles! In June 2016, they added new flavors: lime and cranberry. They even pre-sold 100,000 bottles of these new flavors.
In March 2020, Coca-Cola launched its own maple-flavored cola. This meant more competition for Bec Cola, which was a leader in maple-based sodas.
