Beethoven's Big Break is a fun family movie from 2008. It's part of the famous Beethoven film series. This movie was released on DVD on December 30, 2008. It's like a fresh start for the series, as it tells a brand new story. It doesn't follow the plots from the first five Beethoven films.
Story of the Movie
The movie is about Eddie, a dad who trains animals. He works as an assistant to Sal DeMarco, who thinks he's a great animal show host. Both Eddie and Sal are hired to train animals for a new movie called Frizzy, The Bichon Frise. Sal is in charge of the main dog, Frizzy. Eddie only gets to train a lizard.
One day, Frizzy the dog is taken! Sal blames Eddie and Eddie gets fired by the movie's producer, Patricia. The director, Stanley, and Patricia decide not to pay a ransom. Instead, they plan to find a new dog for the movie.
Meanwhile, Eddie's son, Billy, finds a big stray dog following him. Billy brings the dog home. He names the dog Beethoven because the dog loves Ludwig van Beethoven's 5th symphony. When Eddie comes home, he finds his job is gone and his house is a mess because of the new dog!
It turns out that Sal was behind Frizzy's disappearance. He wanted to make Frizzy more valuable.
The next day, auditions are held for the new movie dog. Stanley and Patricia are having trouble finding the right one. Eddie arrives with Billy and Beethoven to pick up his lizard, Pete. Suddenly, Beethoven runs in and does an amazing chase scene with Pete the Lizard! Stanley loves it right away. Beethoven and Eddie are hired, and Sal is fired.
To celebrate, Eddie takes Billy and Beethoven for hamburgers. But Beethoven runs off with the burgers! He leads Eddie and Billy to an alley. There, they find Beethoven has three small puppies. Their mother is gone. Eddie agrees to adopt the puppies too.
Eddie's job is to make Beethoven do stunts for the movie. But Beethoven is hard to train! He often crashes through scenes and makes a big mess. Each time, Eddie thinks he'll be fired. But Stanley finds these messy scenes even funnier! He decides to keep them in the movie. Lisa, the movie's writer, asks to spend more time with Beethoven. This helps her write better scenes for him.
Sal wants revenge for being fired. He tells his helpers, Tick and Bones, to take Beethoven. He plans to ask for a lot of money and then harm Beethoven. They take Beethoven while Billy is talking to his friend Katie in the park. Eddie, Billy, Lisa, and the puppies go to Sal's secret hideout. They rescue Beethoven! Sal and his helpers are arrested. Eddie and Lisa start a relationship.
The movie ends with everyone watching the film's premiere. Eddie, Lisa, Billy, Katie, Stanley, Patricia, Beethoven, the puppies, and Pete the iguana all enjoy popcorn.
At the end of the movie, there are funny fake movie titles. These include "Dog-E" and "When Hairy Met Frizzy".
