Óscar Núñez (born November 18, 1958) is a Cuban-American actor and comedian. He is famous for playing the accountant Óscar Martínez on the TV show The Office.
Before The Office, he was part of a comedy group called The Groundlings. He also helped create and starred in the Comedy Central show Halfway Home. In 2014, he was in the comedy series Benched. Since 2018, you might have seen him in State Farm commercials.

Early Life and Education
Óscar Núñez was born in Colón, Cuba. His mother was a dentist and his father was a lawyer. They both went to the University of Havana.
His family moved to Caracas, Venezuela in 1960. Then, they moved to the United States. When he was two, they lived in Boston. At four, they moved to Union City, New Jersey. He became an American citizen in 1964. Óscar speaks both English and Spanish.
Núñez studied at several colleges in New York, including the Fashion Institute of Technology. He also became a certified dental technician.
Comedy and Acting Career
Óscar Núñez started his comedy career in New York City. He performed in over 300 shows with a theater group called The Shock of the Funny. He also acted in plays in New York and Washington, D.C.
In the mid-1990s, he moved to Los Angeles. There, he joined The Groundlings, a famous comedy group. He wrote and performed in a show called "Smooth Down There" with them.
In 1997, Núñez finished the Warner Brothers Comedy Writer's Workshop. In 1999, he was a finalist in the ABC Latino Writers Project.
He appeared on the game show Match Game in 1998. He was also a stand-in for Adam Carolla on The Man Show.
Television Roles and Awards
Núñez has been in many TV shows. These include Malcolm in the Middle, 24, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Reno 911!, and Mad TV.
His most famous role is Oscar Martínez on The Office. For his work on The Office: The Accountants, he won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2007. He also created and produced the Comedy Central show Halfway Home, where he played Eulogio Pla.
Film Appearances
Óscar Núñez has acted in several movies. He was a security guard in The Italian Job. He also appeared in Reno 911!: Miami and When Do We Eat?.
In 2012, he played lawyer Jose Baez in the Lifetime movie Prosecuting Casey Anthony.
Other Notable Work
In 2010, Núñez was one of the judges for the 2010 Miss USA Contest. He asked a question about the Arizona undocumented immigrant law.
In 2014, he co-starred in the USA Network comedy series Benched. From 2016, he was a regular on the TBS comedy series People of Earth.
Since 2018, he has played State Farm Insurance Agent Cole Perez in TV commercials. In July 2018, Núñez played Desi Arnaz in a stage play about I Love Lucy. This play was recorded for public radio.
From 2019 to 2020, Núñez played Assistant Principal Carlos Hernandez on the Netflix show Mr. Iglesias.
