Beinn Eilideach is a mountain in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Its name comes from the Gaelic words for "mountain of hinds," which are female red deer. This mountain is found in Ross-shire, close to the town of Ullapool.

About Beinn Eilideach

Beinn Eilideach stands 559 metres (about 1,834 feet) high. That's taller than many famous buildings! It is known as a Marilyn. A Marilyn is a special type of hill or mountain in the UK or Ireland. To be a Marilyn, a hill must rise at least 150 metres (about 492 feet) above the land around it. This means Beinn Eilideach really stands out from its surroundings.

The Summit

Near the very top of Beinn Eilideach, you can find a triangulation pillar. This is a concrete pillar that surveyors use to help create accurate maps. It's a marker that helps them measure distances and heights across the land. Even though the pillar is close to the top, the absolute highest point of Beinn Eilideach is actually about 100 metres (about 328 feet) to the west of this pillar.

Location and Scenery

Beinn Eilideach is located in Wester Ross, a stunning part of Scotland known for its wild landscapes. The area around the mountain is full of natural beauty, including small lakes called lochans. These features make it a great place for exploring and enjoying nature.
