Early Life and Education
Belén Rueda was born in Madrid, Spain. Her father was an engineer, and her mother taught ballet. She is the middle child of three, with an older sister named María Jesús and a younger brother named Alfonso. When she was a child, her family moved to San Juan, a town near Alicante. At 18, Belén moved back to Madrid to study architecture at university.
Acting Career Highlights
Belén Rueda started her career in television while she was still a student. She first appeared as a steward on the night show VIP Noche. She later became the co-host of the show alongside Emilio Aragón.
Early TV Roles
Her first acting role on television was in 1997. She played the character Clara Nadal in the popular show Médico de familia. This was a special appearance to help cover for another actor. Soon after, she continued playing Clara Nadal in the series Periodistas from 1998 to 2002. Both shows were connected, sharing the same fictional world.
From 2003 to 2007, Belén Rueda starred in the very popular series Los Serrano. She played Lucía Gómez for six seasons and 107 episodes. She left the show to focus more on her work in theater.
Film Success
Belén Rueda made her first movie appearance in 2004 in the film The Sea Inside. Her performance in this movie was highly praised. She won a Goya Award and an Actors Union Award for Best New Actress for this role.
She received another Goya nomination in 2007 for her role in the film The Orphanage. Belén Rueda also played the main character in the Spanish thriller Julia's Eyes, which was produced by the famous director Guillermo del Toro. In 2012, she starred in another thriller called The Body.

Personal Life
Belén Rueda was in a relationship with producer Daniel Écija for 14 years. They had three daughters together, including actress Belén Écija. They got married in 2003 but separated a year later. She was later in a relationship with Roger Vincent.
