About Belén Rueda
María Belén Rueda García-Porrero was born in Madrid, Spain, on March 16, 1965. Her dad was an engineer, and her mom taught ballet. Belén is the middle child, with an older sister and a younger brother. When she was a kid, her family moved to San Juan, a town near Alicante. At 18, Belén moved back to Madrid to study architecture.
Her Acting Journey
Belén Rueda started her career on TV while she was still a student. She first appeared as a helper on the night show VIP Noche. Later, she became a co-host on the show with Emilio Aragón.
Her first acting role on television was in 1997. She played a photographer named Clara Nadal in the popular show Médico de familia. Soon after, she continued playing the same character in the series Periodistas from 1998 to 2002. Both shows were connected, making her character well-known.
From 2003 to 2007, Belén Rueda starred in the very popular TV series Los Serrano. She played Lucía Gómez for six seasons and 107 episodes. She left the show to focus more on acting in plays.
Belén made her first big movie appearance in 2004 in the film The Sea Inside. For this role, she won a Goya Award for Best New Actress. This is one of Spain's most important film awards!
She received another Goya nomination for her role in the 2007 horror film, The Orphanage. This movie helped her become known internationally. Belén also played the main character in the Spanish thriller Julia's Eyes (2010), which was produced by the famous director Guillermo del Toro.
