Bellis is a small community called a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada. It is part of Smoky Lake County. Bellis used to be a village, but it changed to a hamlet on January 1, 1946. It then became part of the Municipal District of Vilna No. 575.
Bellis is located about 8 kilometers west of Highway 36. It is about 111 kilometers northeast of Edmonton. The name Bellis comes from the Ukrainian words Bel lis, which means "white woods". This refers to the birch and poplar trees found in the area. The first people to settle here arrived in 1898.
