History of Beranuy
The municipality of Beranuy was created in 1966. Before that, it was two separate areas: Beranui and Calvera. They joined together as part of a government plan to combine smaller towns.
The town's official name became "Beranuy" in 2011. This name is a Spanish version of its traditional Catalan name, "Beranui." For a while, starting in 1966, it was called "Veracruz." This was another Spanish adaptation of "Beranui," but it didn't quite match the original sound.
