The Mountains of Sis (called Serra de Sis in Catalan or Sierra de Sis in Spanish) are a mountain range in Spain. They stretch for about 28 kilometers (17 miles). These mountains are part of the Pre-Pyrenees, which are smaller mountains near the main Pyrenees range.
You can find the Mountains of Sis in the Ribagorza area of Aragon. They sit between the valleys of the Isábena River and the Escales Reservoir on the Noguera Ribagorzana river. The two highest peaks in this range are Pico de l´Amorriador, which is 1,791 meters (5,876 feet) high, and Puialto, which is 1,782 meters (5,846 feet) high. Other important peaks include La Creu de Bonansa (1,765 m), Altaió d'Aulet (1,490 m), and Tossal de Cornudella (1,066 m).

Exploring the Mountains of Sis
This mountain range looks very impressive from certain angles. It rises steeply from the flat land around it. Because of its grand appearance, people in the past sometimes called it "the Great Mountains of Sis." This name showed how massive these mountains looked, standing tall as mighty foothills (smaller mountains at the base of a larger mountain range) of the Pyrenees.
Amazing Views and Activities
If you climb to the top of these mountains, you get amazing views! You can see some of the main peaks of the Pyrenees to the south. You can also spot the beautiful El Turbón mountain to the west. Some parts of the range have very steep, rocky cliffs. These cliffs are popular spots for rock climbers who enjoy challenging climbs.
History and Old Buildings
At the western end of the Sierra de Sis range, you can find the Santa María de Obarra monastery. This old monastery was built between the 9th and 11th centuries. There are also many abandoned villages and old church buildings scattered throughout the area. You might also see ancient buildings called borda. These were once used by cattle farmers to shelter their animals or store hay.
