Berehomet (Ukrainian: Берегомет; Romanian: Bеrhomet pe Siret; German: Berhometh) is a rural settlement located in western Ukraine. It is part of the Chernivtsi Oblast region and belongs to the Vyzhnytsia Raion. This settlement is special because it manages the Berehomet settlement hromada, which is a local community area in Ukraine.

Berehomet is situated right on the Siret River. In 2001, about 8,513 people lived there. By 2022, the population was around 7,514. One nearby village, Zarichchia (Заріччя), is also managed by Berehomet.

A Look at Berehomet's Past

The first time Berehomet was ever mentioned in historical records was way back in 1696. This means it has a long and interesting history!

For many years, starting in 1963, Berehomet was known as an "urban-type settlement." This was a special kind of town status in Ukraine. However, things changed on January 26, 2024. A new law came into effect that removed this status. Now, Berehomet is officially a rural settlement again.
