Exploring Bergland Township's Location
Bergland Township covers a total area of about 108 square miles (280 square kilometers). Most of this area, around 98.5 square miles (255 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 9.74 square miles (25 square kilometers), is water. A big part of this water is Lake Gogebic, which is a very large lake.
The township is surrounded by other areas. To the south and west, you'll find Gogebic County. To the north and west is Carp Lake Township. To the east, you'll find Matchwood Township.
Main Communities in Bergland Township
There are a couple of important communities within Bergland Township:
- Bergland is a small, unofficial town. It's located where two main roads, M-28 and M-64, meet. This community is right at the northern end of Lake Gogebic. It's also inside the beautiful Ottawa National Forest. The special mail code for Bergland is 49910.
- Lake Gogebic is another area that includes the smaller communities of Lake Gogebic and Merriweather. It's just west of the main Bergland community.
