Bergland is a small community in the state of Michigan, United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area identified by the government for statistics, but it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Bergland is located in Ontonagon County.
This community sits right on the northern shore of Lake Gogebic. This lake is super important because it's the biggest natural inland lake on Michigan's Upper Peninsula!
Getting Around Bergland
If you're visiting Bergland, you'll notice a main road called M-28. This highway goes right through the middle of the community.
- If you drive east on M-28 for about 19 miles, you'll reach Bruce Crossing.
- If you head southwest for about 20 miles, you'll get to Wakefield.
Another important road is M-64. This highway starts in Bergland and heads north.
- It takes you about 17 miles north to the big Lake Superior.
- If you keep going for about 30 miles, you'll arrive in Ontonagon. This is the main town and the "county seat" for Ontonagon County, meaning it's where the county government offices are.
Right next to Bergland, on its western side, is another community called the Lake Gogebic CDP.
