Bernard Scott (born February 10, 1984) is an American former professional football player. He played as a running back. The Cincinnati Bengals picked him in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL draft. He played college football at Abilene Christian University. His brother, Daryl Richardson, also played as a running back in the NFL.

Early Life and High School Football

Bernard Scott grew up in Vernon, Texas. He played football at Vernon High School. In 2001, as a junior, he was a first-team all-state player. However, he left the team due to an incident that happened outside of school. This meant he could not play in his senior year. He later graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 2003.

College Football Career

Scott first went to Central Arkansas University. In 2004, he was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year. However, he later left the football team due to disagreements and other challenges.

He then transferred to Blinn College. There, he became a first-team NJCAA All-America player. He helped the Buccaneers team have a perfect 12–0 season. They also won the NJCAA national championship. Scott ran for 1,892 yards and scored 27 touchdowns that season. He averaged 154.4 rushing yards per game.

After Blinn, Scott enrolled at Abilene Christian University in 2007. He was a strong candidate for the 2007 Harlon Hill Trophy. This award goes to the best player in NCAA Division II football. Scott broke the league's single-season rushing record with 2,165 yards. He also set two NCAA Division II records. He scored 39 total touchdowns and earned 234 points in one season. In 2008, Scott won the Harlon Hill Trophy by a large margin.

Professional Football Career

Before the NFL Draft, Bernard Scott faced some challenges that made his path to the NFL a bit harder. He had some issues with traffic rules and had to be on probation for a while.

Baltimore Ravens

Scott signed with the Baltimore Ravens on October 28, 2013. He was released by the Ravens on December 7, 2013. However, he re-signed with the team just a few days later, on December 10, 2013. This happened after another player, Brandon Stokley, had a season-ending injury.
