Bernardo Corradi, born on March 30, 1976, is a former Italian football player and coach. He played as a forward for many top teams in Italy, Spain, and England. His last team was the Montreal Impact in Canada, where he played in Major League Soccer in 2012.

Corradi also played for the Italian national team. He earned 13 caps and scored two goals between 2003 and 2004. He represented Italy at the UEFA Euro 2004 tournament.

He recently left his coaching role with the Italy Under 20 team. He joined Max Allegri's coaching staff at AC Milan.

Playing Career Highlights

Starting Out in Italy

Corradi began his football journey in Italy with Siena. At that time, Siena was in Serie C1, a lower division. He then moved to Poggibonsi, playing there for two seasons. In 1996, he joined Ponsacco, another team in Tuscany.

In 1997, Corradi signed with Cagliari. After playing only two matches, he was loaned to Montevarchi in November. The next season, he was loaned again, this time to Andria. In 1999, he returned to Cagliari and played his first match in Serie A, Italy's top league.

Time with Chievo and Inter Milan

In 2000, Chievo and Inter Milan jointly signed Corradi. He started to show his skills as a central forward, using his height to his advantage. He scored his first Serie A goal while playing for Chievo. He stayed with Chievo for two seasons.

Later, Inter Milan bought him completely. He played only one match for Inter against Sporting CP. After Ronaldo left Inter, the club signed Hernán Crespo. Corradi moved to Lazio as part of the deal.

Success at Lazio

At Lazio, Corradi scored in his very first game. He formed a strong attacking partnership with Claudio López. He was offered a new contract in July 2003. In his second season, he was a key player, often playing alongside Roberto Muzzi, López, or Simone Inzaghi.

Corradi scored ten goals in each of his two league seasons with Lazio. He also scored an important away goal when Lazio beat Juventus to win the 2004 Coppa Italia title.

Moving to Valencia

In the summer of 2004, Corradi joined Valencia in Spain. His Lazio teammate Stefano Fiore also moved with him. Corradi started his time with Valencia by winning the UEFA Supercup.

However, when his Italian coach Claudio Ranieri left the club, Corradi played less often. He was then loaned back to Italy, joining Parma for the 2005–06 season. He scored ten goals in 36 games during that season.

Playing for Manchester City

In 2006, Valencia sold Corradi to Manchester City in England. He signed a three-year contract with the Premier League club.

Corradi made his Manchester City debut against Chelsea. He was sent off in that match after getting two yellow cards. It took him 13 games to score his first goals for the club. He scored twice against Fulham in November 2006. This made him the first Italian player to score for Manchester City.

In December, Corradi was sent off again, this time against Manchester United. He only scored three league goals during the 2006–07 season. After a difficult season, he was loaned back to Parma for the rest of the 2007–08 season. He scored five goals in 15 starts for Parma and was even given the captain's armband.

Later Career in Italy and Canada

On July 30, 2008, Manchester City released Corradi from his contract. He returned to Italy to play for Reggina. His contract with Reggina ended in May 2009.

On July 3, Udinese signed him for free. He mostly played as a substitute for Udinese.

In 2012, Corradi joined the Montreal Impact in Canada. He made his debut in a pre-season game in March 2012. On March 15, 2012, he officially signed with the team for three months. He scored his first MLS goal on April 14 from a penalty kick against FC Dallas. Corradi was released by Montreal in December 2012.

International Career for Italy

Bernardo Corradi played for the Italian national team 13 times between 2003 and 2004, scoring two goals. He was first called up in February 2003. He debuted on February 12, scoring the only goal in a 1–0 friendly win against Portugal.

He was part of Italy's squad for Euro 2004. He played one match in the tournament, a 2–1 win against Bulgaria. Italy was eliminated in the first round, even though they did not lose a match.

After 2004, with the rise of other strong forwards like Luca Toni and Alberto Gilardino, Corradi did not receive any more calls to the national team.

Playing Style

Corradi was often described as an "old-fashioned" centre forward. He was a tall, strong, and physical striker who was very good at scoring goals, especially with his head. He was also known for working hard without the ball, helping his team win possession back from opponents. His playing style was sometimes compared to that of Pierluigi Casiraghi.

Coaching Career

In 2017, Bernardo Corradi joined the Italy national youth team. He worked as an assistant coach for the Italy U17 team. Later, he became the head coach for the Italy U16 and Italy U18 teams. In 2020, he returned to coach the Under-17 team as their head coach.

From August 2023, he managed the Italy U19 team. He then moved to coach the Italy U20 team from 2024 to 2025.

Television Appearances

In May and June 2017, Bernardo Corradi appeared on the TV show Selfie – Le cose cambiano. This was a talent show where he was one of the tutors or mentors. The show was produced by Fascino PGT and aired on Canale 5.
