Bertram is located in Iowa. It covers an area of about 1.53 square miles (3.97 square kilometers), and all of it is land.

The city is on the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad. This railroad has a large bridge nearby that goes over Big Creek. Bertram is mostly a "bedroom community," which means many people who live there travel to work in a bigger city like Cedar Rapids.
