History of Bessie
The town of Bessie got its post office in 1903. There are a couple of ideas about how Bessie got its name. Some people say it was named after the wife of a railroad official. Others believe the name came from the initials of the Blackwell, Enid and Southwestern Railway, which was called the BES Line.
