Beulah is a city located in Mercer County, North Dakota, in the United States. In 2020, about 3,058 people lived there. Beulah is known for its energy industry. It is home to the Dakota Gasification Company and is close to a very large lignite (a type of coal) mine.

History of Beulah
Beulah was established in 1914. It got its name from Beulah Stinchcombe. She was the niece of a person who helped develop land in the area.

Beulah is a city that covers about 2.5 square miles (6.5 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.

In 2010, about 3,121 people lived in Beulah. There were 1,353 homes. Most people in Beulah were White (94.8%). A smaller number were Native American (2.3%) or from other backgrounds. About 2.3% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
The average age of people in Beulah was 44.2 years old. About 22.3% of residents were under 18. Many adults were between 45 and 64 years old (34.3%).
Education in Beulah
Beulah has a history of focusing on education. The first school was a small one-room building in an old barn. It started with only five students. As more families moved to the area, the school grew. It became very well-known and won awards for its teaching. Sadly, the original building was destroyed by a fire in 1934. Another school, the Beulah School, was built earlier in 1920.
Today, Beulah has an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school. The sports teams for the schools are called the Miners. The local American Legion baseball team is known as the Cyclones.
