The name "Beuningen" first appeared a long time ago, in the late 900s. It means "settlement of the people of Bono," referring to a person named Bono. Originally, Beuningen was just a group of farms. It started to grow into the village we know today after World War II.

Borgbeuningen Estate: A Historic Landmark

One special place in Beuningen is the Borgbeuningen estate. It was built in 1709. This estate stands where an old medieval castle used to be. The estate has a very large park around it. The paths in the park are lined up with the church towers in the area. In the middle of a forest nearby, there's a cool pond shaped like a cross.

Village Life and Growth

In 1840, Beuningen had 699 residents. The village used to be part of the Denekamp parish. However, in 1818, Beuningen became part of the Losser municipality. This was an important step for the village.

A Roman Catholic church was built in Beuningen in 1948. This was a big moment for the community. After the church was built, Beuningen was officially recognized as a village.

Today, you can find a campsite, a soccer field, and a forest just outside the village. These spots are great for outdoor activities and enjoying nature.
