Bevil Oaks is a small city in Jefferson County, Texas, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,089 people lived there. It is part of a larger area that includes the cities of Beaumont and Port Arthur.

History of Bevil Oaks
Bevil Oaks became a city sometime before 1963. It was formed from two smaller areas called Bevil Acres and River Oaks. The city's economy mostly depends on the larger Golden Triangle area nearby.
Geography and Location
Bevil Oaks is located in the northern part of Jefferson County. A bayou called Pine Island Bayou forms its northern and western borders. This bayou also marks the line for Hardin County.
Texas State Highway 105 runs along the southern edge of the city. This highway goes west about 8 miles (13 km) to Sour Lake. It also goes east about 6 miles (10 km) to U.S. Route 96. The city of Beaumont is about 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Bevil Oaks. You can get there by taking Highway 105 and then US 96.
The city of Bevil Oaks covers a total area of about 2.06 square miles (5.3 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with only a small part, about 0.03 square miles (0.08 square kilometers), being water.

Most people in Bevil Oaks were White (96.36%). A smaller number were African American (2.01%), Asian (0.15%), or from other backgrounds. About 3.12% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.

Education for Students
For many years, students in Bevil Oaks went to schools in the Beaumont Independent School District. However, this changed in 2018.
On March 5, 2018, the Texas Commissioner of Education made a decision. Bevil Oaks would leave the Beaumont ISD and join the Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District. Citizens of Bevil Oaks had asked for this change in 2017.
The Beaumont ISD did not agree at first, but Hardin-Jefferson ISD did. After a legal process, it was decided that the citizens' request was fair. Beaumont ISD then agreed to let the community leave their district.
Starting July 1, 2018, all students in Bevil Oaks began attending schools in the Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District.
Law Enforcement
Since 2011, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has been in charge of law enforcement in Bevil Oaks.
Before 2011, the city had its own City Marshal. This position was elected by the people until 1983, when it became an appointed job. Herman Ritchie was the first elected City Marshal, serving from 1967 to 1983. Larry K. Arnold was the first appointed City Marshal, serving from 1983 to 1985.
