Big Thicket Lake Estates is a special kind of community called a census-designated place (CDP). It is located in the state of Texas, across two different areas: Polk County and Liberty County.
In 2010, when the government counted everyone (this is called a census), there were 742 people living here. By the time of the 2020 census, the population had changed to 514 people.
Where is Big Thicket Lake Estates?
Big Thicket Lake Estates is found in the southern part of Polk County and the northern part of Liberty County. It is a community built around several man-made lakes. The biggest lake is called Bear Foot Lake. This lake was created from Mill Creek, which flows into Menard Creek, and then into the Trinity River.
The total area of Big Thicket Lake Estates is about 6.5 square kilometers (about 2.5 square miles). Most of this area is land, but about 0.5 square kilometers (0.2 square miles) is water.
Texas State Highway 146 runs along the western side of the community. This highway can take you north about 18 miles to a town called Livingston. If you go south about 31 miles, you will reach Liberty.
