Billy Dean Burlison (born March 15, 1931 – died March 17, 2019) was an American politician. He served in government roles in both Missouri and Maryland.

Billy Burlison's Life and Career
Billy Burlison was born and passed away in Wardell, Missouri. His parents were John Ivy and Lillie Burlison.
Education and Early Life
He went to Southeast Missouri State University. Later, he studied law at the University of Missouri. He became a lawyer, able to practice in Missouri, Maryland, and Washington D.C. Billy Burlison also served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He was known for having many academic degrees.
Serving in Congress
He was a member of the Democratic Party. From 1969 to 1981, he was a U.S. Congressman for Missouri. He served six terms but lost his seventh election to Bill Emerson in 1980.
Political Work in Maryland
After leaving Congress, Burlison moved to Maryland. He tried to get elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1986 and 1990, but he was not successful. In 1998, he was elected to the County Council in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He was re-elected for a second term in 2002. He also considered running for Congress in Maryland in 2006 but decided not to.
Returning to Missouri Politics
Later, Burlison moved back to Missouri, settling in Advance, Missouri. He ran for a state legislative seat in 2008 and 2010. He lost both times to Billy Pat Wright. In 2014, he ran for the 149th district as state representative. He lost this election to Republican Don Rone.
In 2016, he ran for the Missouri State Senate against Doug Libla. He was the only Democratic candidate in the primary election. However, he lost the general election to Libla.
Family Life
Billy Burlison married Barbara Humphreys in 1955. They had three children together. They later divorced in 1983. In 1995, he married Michal Sue Mickey Prosser. They remained married until his death. Billy Burlison passed away on March 17, 2019, at the age of 88.
