Bill Gray's is a popular chain of restaurants. It started in Webster, New York, which is a town near Rochester, New York. Today, Bill Gray's has 14 restaurants in the Rochester area. Some of these are special restaurants with a unique style, and one is a grill called Flaherty's. Many of these places, ten of them, also sell delicious Abbott's Frozen Custard.

How Bill Gray's Started

Bill Gray's began a long time ago, in 1938. A couple named Bill and Alberta Gray started by selling tasty hot dogs in Webster. People loved their food! In just a few years, Bill Gray's grew bigger. They added many more items to their menu.

Growing the Business

In the early 1960s, a local businessman named Bruce Hegedorn joined Bill Gray. Bill was great at running the restaurants and managing the stores. Bruce was good with money and finding new places for restaurants. Together, they made the restaurant chain even larger. They bought another restaurant chain called Tom Wahl's in 1986.

Most Bill Gray's restaurants are stand-alone buildings. This means they are their own separate places. They are mostly found in Monroe County, New York. There is one special Bill Gray's location. It is inside the Strong National Museum of Play. This one is called Bill Gray's at the Skyliner.
