Bimal Guha (born October 27, 1952) is a famous poet from Bangladesh. He started writing in the 1970s. His poems often talk about the Bangladesh Liberation War, love, nature, his home country, his language, and how old traditions mix with new ideas.

About Bimal Guha
Bimal Guha was born in a place called Bajalia Union. This was in the Chittagong District of Bangladesh. His parents were Prasanna Kumar Guha and Manadabala Guha. He was the oldest of four children.
He went to Bajalia High School for his early studies. He finished school in 1968. Later, he studied at Satkania College. He completed his higher secondary education there in 1970.
Bimal Guha then went to the University of Chittagong. He earned his master's degree in Bengali literature in 1975. He also studied publishing at Napier University. He learned about editing and publishing in the Philippines and Thailand. In 1997, he earned his PhD from the University of Dhaka. His PhD was about modern Bengali poetry.
His Journey as a Writer
Bimal Guha started writing in 1968. He was still in school at that time. He loved reading poems by Rabindranath Tagore. These poems inspired him to write his own.
His very first poem was called Akash (The Sky). It was published in his college magazine in 1969. Soon after, his poems started appearing in many magazines and newspapers.
His first book of poems came out in 1982. It was titled Ahongkar, Tomar Shabdo ("Pride, Your Words"). Bimal Guha's writing style kept changing. He always looked for new ways to express himself. His poems use special words and images. This makes his style unique in Bangladeshi poetry.
Bimal Guha has written 32 books. These include poetry, research, and travel stories. He has also written over 100 articles. These articles are about literature and culture. He is known for being strong and never giving up. He always fights for what he believes in.
In the 1970s, after the Bangladesh Liberation War, many young poets emerged. They brought new ideas and feelings to Bangladeshi poetry. Bimal Guha was one of these important poets. He is part of many literary groups. These include the Bangladesh Writers Club and the Bangla Academy.

His Family Life
Bimal Guha married Meena Guha in 1980. They have three daughters. Their names are Ishika, Upoma, and Mithila.
He started working at the University of Dhaka in 1979. He worked in the Bureau of Publications for a long time. Now, he teaches at the university. He teaches in the Department of Printing and Publication Studies.
