History of Binford
The Johnson Land Company from Iowa bought a field in 1899. This happened when the Northern Pacific Railway was building its tracks. The area was first called "Blooming Prairie." It was later renamed Binford after Ray Binford, a lawyer who helped with the land purchase.
Soon after, in the fall of 1899, a lumberyard and a general store opened. A hotel was built in 1900. By 1905, Binford had many businesses. These included a newspaper, a bank, a place to store grain, a hardware store, two grocery stores, and places for bowling and pool. There were also two churches and other shops.

Binford is a small city, covering about 0.91 square kilometers (0.35 square miles). All of this area is land. It is located about one mile west of North Dakota Highway 1. This highway is one of the busier roads in North Dakota.

Binford holds a special event every year in June called "Binford Days." It's a big celebration for the community.

Binford Bull Ride Event
Binford Days also features the annual Binford Bull Ride. This is a professional bull riding event. It has been held in Binford since 1999. About 2,500 to 3,000 people come to watch this exciting event.
