A Look at Bixby's History
Bixby was first planned out around the year 1890. The community was named to honor a pioneer named John Bixby. He lived from 1814 to 1890 and was one of the first people to settle near where the town is now.
A post office, which is where mail is handled, opened in Bixby in 1889. It served the community for many years until it closed down in 1982.
